Start of His Political Career
His electoral career stretched back decades.

He received 52,363 votes, but lost to P.V.V.P. Krishna Rao of the Telugu Desam Party, who polled 59,678 votes.
The loss did not end his work in Eluru.

During the political changes that followed the split between Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy and Congress, Srinivas eventually moved towards the YSR Congress Party.
By the 2014 election, he was contesting Eluru as a YSRCP candidate.
The result went against him.
TDP candidate Badeti Kota Ramarao received 82,483 votes, while Srinivas received 57,880 votes.
That ended his run of consecutive Assembly wins.
But he later returned to a legislative role.
Legislative Council Role
He was elected to the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council in 2017.
Government election material later recorded the vacancy connected with Alla Kali Krishna Srinivas after he returned to the Assembly in 2019. His Council term had originally been due to run until 29 March 2023.
His stay outside the Assembly was short.
The 2019 election brought him back.
2019 Eluru Election Win
The 2019 contest was much closer than his earlier victories.
He ran from Eluru on a YSRCP ticket and received 72,247 votes.

Deputy Chief Minister and Health Minister
After YSRCP formed the Andhra Pradesh government in 2019, he entered the state cabinet.
He served as Deputy Chief Minister and handled Health, Family Welfare and Medical Education.
His period as Health Minister included the COVID-19 pandemic.
That placed his department directly inside Andhra Pradesh’s response to a major public health emergency.
His cabinet term ended during the 2022 ministerial reshuffle.
He still remained an elected MLA through the 2019–2024 Assembly period.
2024 Election
He contested Eluru again in the 2024 Andhra Pradesh Assembly election on a YSRCP ticket.
This time, TDP candidate Radha Krishnayya Badeti won the seat with 111,562 votes.
Srinivas received 49,174 votes.
The official-result reporting placed the winning margin at 62,388 votes.
It was his last Assembly election.
Leaving YSRCP
A few months after the 2024 election, he left YSRCP.
Reports from August 2024 said he resigned from the party and stepped away from active political work at that stage, citing personal reasons. He had also worked as the party’s Eluru district president and Eluru Assembly constituency in-charge.
That retirement did not last permanently.
He made another political move in 2025.
Joining Telugu Desam Party
On 13 February 2025, Srinivas formally joined the Telugu Desam Party.
He met Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu at Naidu’s Undavalli residence and joined the party there.
TDP became his last publicly reported political affiliation.
